A few weeks back, I reviewed the racing game, Formula Legends from 3DClouds. The short version is that I liked it, but it had problems, namely the car handling and AI controlled cars. Since then, the game has seen an update and even some DLC has been released. Time for me to dive back in.
“Step back into racing history with the Raw Power Car Pack for Formula Legends! This DLC adds three incredible new cars to your garage, each inspired by iconic eras of motorsport.”
The first thing I want to address is the update. Developer, 3DClouds has been listening to the feedback and acted very quickly. Pretty much every review bought up the same issues that I did, the car handling and AI. 3DClouds released a patch that didn’t “fix” to old steering system. Instead, they kept the same handling, but added an option to switch to a new system if you wish. It’s a great idea as there may be some who like the old steering system. Now, players get the best of both worlds.

This new handling is an improvement and it does make the game so much more enjoyable. The cars are more responsive, now now take corners smoothly, and races no longer feel like you are fighting to take a turn. The massive understeer feeling from before is all but gone. It’s still not perfect and I think it could do with tinkering a bit, but it is far, far better than it was. I think the main issue is that, because Formula Legends leans more into arcade racing than simulation, and because there are no car set-ups to play around with, the car handling isn’t as precise as you might expect, depending on what track you are racing on. Still, the new steering system is an improvement and it does make the game far more playable. Maybe it would be a good idea to include three basic car set-ups that players could chose from? A standard and balanced one. One that offers more speed, but at the cost of handling. A final one that improves handling at the cost of speed? Just an idea.

The overly aggressive AI from before has been dialled back too. The AI cars are now far less likely to play bumper cars with you. They’re still no pushover (especially at higher difficulty settings), but they offer a more fairer racing experience, while still keeping you on your toes and making you fight for track position. The update also fixed several bugs and more, info can be found here. Yep, Formula Legends has improved since its launch a few weeks back and it is wonderful to hear that the devs are not only listening to feedback, they’re acting on it too. There’s been the promise of more updates and tweaks in the future.

I ended my initial review of Formula Legends by saying “I want to tell you to go and buy a copy right now… but I can’t. The concept is great, the game has a lot of charm and it is clear that the devs are passionate F1 fans. But the bad handling, the awful AI, etc, I can’t ignore that and those two major negatives alone ruin the game.” Well, I take that back. The update has made the game so much more playable, the handling is far better and the AI has been improved. Go out and buy a copy (£20) because this is one of the best and most fun racers on the market right now… an it’s only going to get better as 3DClouds continue to tweak and improve it.

Now, the new DLC. It’s not a massive amount of content, this new Raw Power DLC gives you three new cars to drive. From the late 70s, the Superbows, an experimental car that pushed the limits of engineering with its radical, ground-hugging style. The Jorsey comes from the early 90s and known for its elegant lines and breakthrough design. Finally, you get a more modern 2020s car with the Beta Borneo, that blends sharp aerodynamics with cutting-edge drive. All three are fun to drive but priced at £4, this DLC seems a bit light on content. I think a new track or two would’ve been nice. But saying that, for £24, you can get the base game and this DLC and honestly, it’s definitely worth it. Yeah, I know that sounds a little contradictory, saying the DLC isn’t worth it, but then saying paying for the base game and DLC is. This is because I honestly feel that the DLC overpriced for what it is, but I also think that the base game is worth more than the £20 asking price.

Formula Legends (post update) is a fantastic title, the fact that the devs are listening to players and are wanting to improve the game is a massive boost. Everything I highlighted as a positive in my initial review is still true. The negatives I brought up have been addressed and (mostly) fixed. Plus, there is more to come and Formula Legends is going to continue to get better and better. Personally, I’d love to see some more tracks based on iconic circuits from F1 history. Oh, and an edit option that lets us change the names of the teams and drivers… so we can put the real names in. Formula Legends has gone from me not recommending it in my first review, to now definitely recommending it. For me, this is the best arcade racer of 2025.
